A Canadian silver dollar dated 1956, struck in 80% silver. The obverse features the first laureated portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, surrounded by the Latin legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse displays the Voyageur design by Emanuel Hahn, depicting a voyageur and an Indigenous guide paddling a canoe past an island with stylized pine trees and the aurora borealis in the background. The coin is inscribed with CANADA, 1956, and DOLLAR and has a reeded edge.
