Elmer Keene (British, 1853-1929). A pastoral landscape painting executed in watercolour with gouache highlights on paper. The composition depicts a shepherd driving a mixed flock of sheep and cattle along a rural lane. The scene includes a half-timbered cottage with a red-tiled roof and a church spire visible in the hazy, atmospheric background. The work is signed Elmer Keene in the lower-left corner. It is housed in a modern grey-washed wooden frame with a gilt inner slip and a black backing board with a hanging wire. Dimensions: H 39.4 cm x W 49.5 cm (Frame). Condition: The paper displays overall toning and significant widespread scattered white foxing or mould spots, particularly across the sky and central sections of the artwork. The modern frame is in good condition with only minor surface wear.
