Fine Chinese agate carving in the form of a large peach, executed in warm honey, amber, and russet-toned agate with attractive natural color variation and translucency. One side is carved with bats among foliage, traditional symbols associated with blessings, happiness, and good fortune in Chinese art. The opposite side features a fish swimming amid aquatic plants, a motif symbolizing abundance and prosperity. The carving is skillfully pierced and undercut, making excellent use of the stone's natural coloration to enhance the design. Displayed on a fitted carved hardwood stand. Qing Dynasty, 19th century. Stone without stand: 2" x 1.75" x 0.75".
