Large and finely crafted Japanese Hakata clay figure depicting a samurai warrior from the famous Kuroda Bushi folk tale and traditional festival dance. The warrior is shown in elaborate ceremonial attire with hand-painted dragon motifs, gilt highlights, a sword at his waist, a spear in hand, and a red sake bowl extended before him. The expressive facial features and richly decorated robes showcase the detailed hand-painted craftsmanship for which Hakata dolls are renowned. Measures approximately 20" x 12" x 10".
