Hossein Zenderoudi (Iranian, b. 1937) A vibrant drawing on paper featuring rhythmic, interlocking Arabic calligraphic forms in shades of yellow, blue, green, and pink against a stark black and grey stippled ground. The composition showcases the bold, flowing linework and layered script typical of the Saqqa-khaneh movement. Signed and dated "Zenderoudi 67" in the lower right. Unframed. Hossein Zenderoudi is a pioneering Iranian painter and calligrapher recognized for co-founding the Saqqa-khaneh movement, which integrated traditional Iranian folk art and calligraphy into modern abstraction. His work often utilizes the aesthetic power of the written word, deconstructing script into purely visual, rhythmic forms.
