Horned Amazonian Spirit Figure Master Shipibo-Konibo Ceramic Sculpture. This exceptional Horned Amazonian Spirit Figure is a completely original hand-crafted ceramic sculpture by renowned Shipibo-Konibo master artisan Lily Sandoval Panduro. Modeled and painted entirely by hand, the work presents a seated anthropomorphic being distinguished by curved horns, an expressive face, open hands, and an imposing ceremonial presence. The figure is richly covered with intricate kene designs extending across the face, torso, arms, garments, legs, and supporting seat. These labyrinth-like geometric compositions are executed in cream, terracotta, black, and deep brown, creating a striking contrast while visually unifying the entire sculpture. Especially remarkable is the intentional contrast between the figure's two sides. The legs, feet, hands, and garments alternate between light and dark tonalities, giving the sculpture a powerful sense of duality and transformation. The frontal pose, upward-facing palms, wide eyes, prominent horns, and carefully painted facial markings reinforce its mysterious and commanding character. Rather than identifying the figure as one particular mythological being without documentation from the artist, the work may be understood as an imaginative representation inspired by the spiritual imagery, ancestral narratives, and transformational worldview of the Shipibo-Konibo people. Its expressive modeling and extensive surface decoration make it an outstanding example of contemporary Indigenous Amazonian sculpture. Works by the artist have previously been presented through auctions organized by the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI). ARTIST Lily Sandoval Panduro (Masisea, Ucayali, Peru, b. 1976) is a respected Shipibo-Konibo master ceramist from the Native Community of Nuevo San Rafael.
