Amazonian Jaguar Figure Master Shipibo-Konibo Ceramic Sculpture. This impressive Amazonian Jaguar Figure is a completely original hand-crafted ceramic sculpture by Shipibo-Konibo master artisan Lily Sandoval Panduro. Bold, elegant, and highly expressive, the work portrays a seated jaguar with alert ears, open mouth, visible fangs, extended forelegs, and a long curling tail, giving the piece a strong and commanding presence. The sculpture is richly decorated with intricate kene designs, the ancestral geometric visual language of the Shipibo-Konibo people. Executed in warm ochre, black, cream, and earthy tones, the decoration flows across the head, torso, legs, and tail in a continuous rhythmic composition. The body is further enlivened by spotted detailing on the legs, muzzle, and tail, reinforcing the identity of the animal while enhancing its visual energy. In Amazonian culture, the jaguar is one of the most powerful and symbolic animals, often associated with strength, protection, authority, and the spiritual world. Here, Lily Sandoval Panduro transforms that presence into a striking sculptural form, combining the recognizable anatomy of the feline with the refined painted surface traditions of Shipibo-Konibo ceramic art. With its generous scale, graceful seated posture, and extensive hand-painted decoration, this original sculpture is both visually imposing and culturally distinctive. It is an outstanding example of contemporary Indigenous Amazonian ceramic art and would appeal equally to collectors of animal sculpture, Latin American folk art, and master Peruvian ceramics. Works by the artist have previously been presented through auctions organized by the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI). ARTIST Lily Sandoval Panduro (Masisea, Ucayali, Peru, b. 1976) is a respected Shipibo-Konibo master ceramist from the Panduro family of artisans.
