Rearing Horse Figure Master Shipibo-Konibo Ceramic Sculpture. This striking Rearing Horse Figure is a completely original hand-crafted ceramic sculpture by Shipibo-Konibo master artisan Lily Sandoval Panduro. Elegant, energetic, and visually commanding, the work represents a horse standing upright on its hind legs, its forelegs lifted in a dynamic pose that conveys strength, movement, and sculptural presence. The figure is decorated throughout with finely executed kene designs, the ancestral geometric visual language of the Shipibo-Konibo people. Rendered in warm terracotta-orange, cream, black, and deep brown, the surface displays a remarkable interplay of labyrinthine linear motifs and bold stepped forms, creating a powerful rhythm across the head, torso, legs, and back. Particularly notable are the horse's elongated neck, sharply attentive ears, expressive eyes, lifted forelegs, and dark trailing tail, all of which enhance the sense of motion and vitality. The combination of a recognizable equine form with richly painted Amazonian decorative language gives the sculpture both strong decorative appeal and important cultural character. With its impressive scale, elegant silhouette, and extensive hand-painted surface, this original sculpture stands as an outstanding example of contemporary Indigenous Amazonian ceramic art. It is equally appealing to collectors of horses, Latin American folk art, and master Peruvian ceramics. Works by the artist have previously been presented through auctions organized by the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI). ARTIST Lily Sandoval Panduro (Masisea, Ucayali, Peru, b. 1976) is a respected Shipibo-Konibo master ceramist from the Panduro family of artisans.
