Henry Lawrence Faulkner (American, 1924-1981) A vibrant oil on canvas depicting a whimsical storefront titled "The Old Ancor" set against a brilliant blue sky and lush, stylized floral vines. The scene features a parked bicycle, a white picket fence, and figures rendered in a bold palette of cerulean, emerald, and warm ochre. Signed "Faulkner" in the lower right. Framed. Henry Lawrence Faulkner was an American artist and poet celebrated for his rebellious spirit and brightly colored, folk-influenced oil paintings. A close friend of Tennessee Williams, he was as famous for his eccentricities-such as traveling with a bourbon-drinking goat-as he was for his art. His work often captures architectural subjects with a sense of whimsical fantasy and expressive color. Dimensions: Unframed: 21 3/8 x 26 1/8 inches Framed: 24 1/4 x 29 inches Provenance: Private collection.
