Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890) An expressive oil on canvas depicting a pair of weathered work boots rendered with thick, impasto brushwork. The somber palette features deep forest greens and dark umber against a muted ochre ground, reflecting a realistic study of everyday labor. Signed "Vincent" in red in the upper left. Framed. Vincent van Gogh was a seminal Post-Impressionist painter whose work is celebrated for its emotional intensity and bold, dramatic brushwork. In his early career, he focused on the lives of the working class, frequently painting peasants and their belongings in a realistic style with dark, earthy tones. Though largely unrecognized during his lifetime, he is now one of the most influential figures in the history of Western art.
