Winston Churchill (British, 1874-1965). An oil on canvas depicting a serene coastal scene featuring a cluster of white-walled, red-roofed houses nestled along a blue shoreline. The composition utilizes a vibrant Post-Impressionist palette of turquoise, emerald green, and warm earth tones with expressive, layered brushwork capturing the play of light on the water and hills. Signed "WSC" in the lower right. Framed. Sir Winston Churchill was a prolific amateur painter who found solace and "joy-ride" in art throughout his momentous political and military career. His works, primarily landscapes and seascapes, were heavily influenced by Impressionism and the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean. Despite his status as a statesman, his artistic output was significant, earning him honorary membership in the Royal Academy and leaving behind a legacy of over 500 paintings. Dimensions: Unframed: 17 1/2 x 23 5/8 inches Framed: (Not provided in text, but present in image) Provenance: Private collection.
