An antique German bisque socket head doll featuring a Simon & Halbig mold #550 head on a Heinrich Handwerck composition and wood ball-jointed body. The doll is dressed in a blue and white checked cotton dress with a lace-trimmed chemise and petticoat, black knit stockings, and tasseled shoes. Details include brown sleep eyes, an open mouth with four teeth, and a replacement brown human hair wig made in France. 22 inches. This doll presents in good overall condition with characteristic wear to the composition body joints and minor surface age marks. The sleep eye mechanism is presently working, and the hands show typical finish loss and minor chipping expected for a piece of this vintage.
