An antique German bisque socket head doll manufactured by C.M. Bergmann in Waltershausen, featuring the 1916 character mold. The doll is constructed with blue glass sleep eyes, an open mouth revealing four porcelain teeth, and a brown mohair wig styled in curls. The fully jointed composition and wood body is accompanied by a collection of period-appropriate clothing, including two white cotton dresses, pantaloons, knit stockings, and black patent Mary Jane shoes. The reverse of the head is incised with manufacturer marks including the mold number 1916 and the size number 9. Height: 26 inches. The bisque head is in overall excellent condition with a functioning sleep eye mechanism. The composition body and eyelids show characteristically expected surface wear and aging consistent with the doll's period. The associated wardrobe exhibits typical age-related patina with a minor tear to the pantaloons.
