Antique Arts & Crafts Style Upholstered Armchair

Updated August 22, 2026

Antique Arts & Crafts Style Upholstered Armchair Handsome antique wooden armchair featuring a substantial, sculptural frame with broad curved arms, shaped front supports, and decorative pierced splats along the sides. The gently arched back gives the chair an especially attractive profile, while the dark warm-brown finish highlights the character and grain of the wood. The chair has an upholstered seat and back in a colorful geometric striped fabric of deep red, green, gold and neutral tones, finished with coordinating red trim. The upholstery appears to be a later update and gives the chair an interesting period-meets-contemporary look. The substantial construction and bold, flowing lines suggest Arts & Crafts/Mission-era influence, with an almost rustic lodge quality. It would make an appealing accent, reading, library, or fireside chair and could also be an excellent candidate for reupholstery in a period-appropriate textile or leather. Condition: Very sturdy and substantial. The wooden frame exhibits expected age-related wear, including scratches, scuffs, finish wear and areas of discoloration/patina, particularly along the arms and feet. Upholstery shows some normal wear. Please review photographs for additional condition details. Dimensions: Approximately 38" H x 27" W x 27" D, with a 17" seat height. A wonderfully substantial antique chair with an unusual architectural form, attractive aged character, and plenty of decorative presence.
