Offered is a 1957 Franklin Half Dollar in Gem Proof condition with Full Bell Lines (FBL). This attractive Proof issue features Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. Please review the photos for the exact surfaces, strike, and overall condition. The Franklin Half Dollar was introduced in 1948 and was designed by John R. Sinnock and John Frederick Lewis. The series was produced through 1963, when it was replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar. The 1957 Proof was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, with a mintage of 1,247,952 Proof coins. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs 12.5 grams, and contains approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver. The FBL (Full Bell Lines) designation refers to strong, uninterrupted horizontal lines visible on the lower portion of the Liberty Bell on the reverse and is particularly prized by Franklin Half Dollar collectors.
