Offered is an 1872 Indian Head Cent in Good (G) condition. This early U.S. cent features Liberty wearing a Native American-style headdress on the obverse and a shield and wreath surrounding the denomination on the reverse. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, and remaining detail. The Indian Head Cent was designed by James B. Longacre and struck from 1859 through 1909. The 1872 issue was produced at the Philadelphia Mint with a relatively low mintage of just 4,042,000 coins, making it a desirable semi-key date within the series. The 1872 cent was struck in the bronze composition of approximately 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, with a weight of about 3.11 grams and a 19 mm diameter.
