1925-S Buffalo Nickel, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This scarce 1920s Buffalo Nickel is a desirable date-and-mint issue, particularly in higher circulated grades, and is an important addition for collectors building a complete Buffalo Nickel collection. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Buffalo Nickel was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and introduced in 1913. The obverse features a Native American portrait, while the reverse depicts an American bison standing on a raised mound. The 1925-S had a mintage of only 3,467,000 coins, making it significantly scarcer than the Philadelphia issue. Like many San Francisco Buffalo Nickels from the 1920s, surviving examples often show substantial wear and strike weakness, making pieces with stronger detail especially desirable. The coin was struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighs approximately 5.00 grams, measures about 21.2 mm in diameter, and features a plain edge. The “S” mint mark appears on the reverse below the denomination.
