Chierie, artist-signed 19th-century Continental School oil on canvas depicting a richly detailed domestic interior centered on an elderly seated gentleman attended by a young woman and surrounded by dolls, toys, textiles, and assorted objects scattered across the floor, suggesting the workshop or sitting room of a craftsman or collector. The carefully arranged scene is enhanced by a decorative folding screen, red parasol, classical statuette, architectural furnishings, hanging birdcage, patterned fabrics, and finely rendered accessories, all painted with the narrative detail and academic realism associated with European genre painting of the period. Signed “Chierie” at the lower right. The reverse retains Hudson Salah Art Conservation Studios labels identifying the work as a “Genre Scene,” recording dimensions of approximately 12.625 x 20.25 inches, inventory number 1800.10803, and client name Jack Paramore. The canvas has undergone professional conservation and appears relined and restretched. Presented in an elaborate giltwood and composition frame with scrolling foliate and floral ornament. Condition includes age-related craquelure and surface wear to the painting, with evidence of conservation; the frame shows scattered gilt loss, abrasions, cracking, small losses to applied ornament, and general wear consistent with age. Measures 12"H x 15"W and 19"H x 22"W including frame.
