A matched pair of circa 1930 Phoenix Consolidated Glass Company Martele line vases, each formed in pale custard uranium glass with softly flared rims, slender waisted necks, rounded shoulders, and gently tapering bodies. The surfaces are molded in pronounced relief with intertwining leafy branches and abundant fruit or floral clusters, enriched with a warm taupe-brown wash that gathers in the recesses and emphasizes the sculptural botanical decoration against the creamy translucent ground. Under ultraviolet illumination, both vases exhibit the vivid green fluorescence associated with uranium-bearing glass. Introduced during the late 1920s, Consolidated’s Martele line drew inspiration from French Art Deco relief glass and is admired for its richly modeled naturalistic designs. The pair displays minor differences in the placement and intensity of the applied coloration, typical of individually finished examples, with light surface wear, scattered discoloration, and minor manufacturing irregularities consistent with age; one has a chip on rim, cracks, which is visible in the photographs. Measure 9.5"H x 3.5"W each.
