Group of seven Japanese porcelain bowls of graduated size, each formed with softly scalloped or lobed rims and decorated in the Imari palette with flowering branches, stylized blossoms, leaves, and scattered ornamental motifs rendered in underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, touches of green and yellow enamel, and gilt accents. The repeating floral compositions are enlivened by delicately painted stems and small butterfly-like devices, while the exteriors carry restrained cobalt decoration above circular foot rims. Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, the bowls display attractive handmade variation in shape, glaze, and painted ornament. Condition includes scattered surface wear, rubbing and losses to the gilt and enamel decoration, firing imperfections, foot-rim discoloration, and occasional minor rim abrasions or small chips consistent with age and use.Measure 6" in diameter.
