This hand tied silk area rug originates from the Qom region of Iran. The rug features a dense floral medallion design centered on a salmon field with intricate arabesques and scrollwork. The composition is bounded by a wide navy blueprimary border displaying repeating palmette motifs and multiple secondary floral borders. Construction consists of 100 percent fine silk with a high-knot-count weave and white silk fringe at the ends. Identifying tags on the reverse labelthe item as rug number 50818-24-C, type Gomm, fine silk quality, and origin Iran. 3 feet 6 inches wide by 5 feet 4 inches long.This rug shows mostly expected wear due to its age and use. The pile is in overall nice condition and displays a well-preserved appearance. The fringe exhibits minor length variation and fraying typical for its age.
