This hand-tied Persian Ghom rug is constructed with a fine silk pile on a silk foundation. The design features a classic Tree of Life motif set within a prayer arch, or mihrab, emerging from a decorative vase. The central ivory field isdensely woven with floral sprays and bird figures. The rug includes a wide main border decorated with alternating medallions containing pairs of animals and birds amidst scrolling vines. Labels attached to the reverse identify the piece asa fine Iranian silk prayer rug from the Ghom region. 5 feet 2 inches x 3 feet 6 inches.This rug is in nice condition with expected characteristics consistent with its age and use. Professional fringe matching and kilim reinforcements are precisely executed to maintain a uniform appearance.
