Sunset Designs Kachina Crewel Embroidery

This hand-worked crewel embroidery wall hanging was produced from a 1978 Sunset Designs kit, pattern number 2289. The composition features a Southwestern harvest arrangement of Indian corn and wheat stalks set within a pottery vessel decorated with a polychrome kachina figure and geometric motifs. The embroidery is executed in yarn on a coarse brown woven fabric, incorporating three-dimensional feather accents and varied stitch techniques to create texture. The lower right margin retains the original printed maker mark and Roman numeral date.Measures: 26 inches x 45 inchesThe textile is in good vintage condition with vibrant thread colors and no visible loss to the embroidery. Prominent horizontal and vertical fold lines are present from long-term storage. The side edges are finished with yellow adhesive tape and white running stitches are visible along the margins.
