STONE JADE HUCHUN VASE. <br>H:32.3cm W:20cm This is an imperial underglaze red pear-shaped vase fired in the Xuande reign of Ming Dynasty, with flared mouth, slender tapering neck, plump pear belly and short ring foot. Covered with smooth white glaze, the whole vessel is painted with layered copper red patterns: banana leaves, winding grass scrolls and ruyi cloud bands on the neck, while the main body depicts a quiet classical garden scene with banana trees, lake rocks, railings, bamboo and flowers. A band of scrolling grass and lotus petals encircles the base. The copper red pigment presents deep steady crimson tone with natural firing speckles. Six-character regular script reign mark "Made in the Xuande Reign of the Great Ming" is inscribed on the base. The banana and rock garden motif represents the quiet elegant leisure taste of literati.
