Description: Antique cast iron farm kettle with three integral legs and cast side lifting ears, measuring approximately 27 inches in diameter and 16 inches tall. Estimated capacity is approximately 30–35 gallons. This substantial kettle dates to the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1880–1920, and was commonly used on farms and homesteads for butchering, rendering lard, making soap, scalding poultry, syrup making, and other outdoor cooking tasks over an open fire. This example retains its original primitive appearance and has no evidence of ever having a bail handle, which is consistent with many large farm kettles of this style. Condition: Heavy cast iron with an attractive aged patina, surface oxidation, and wear appropriate for age and use. The kettle is reported to hold water with no leaks, indicating there are no apparent cracks through the casting. No obvious repairs are visible in the provided photographs. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the description. If you have any doubt, please attend the preview and examine all photographs closely before bidding.
