NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Blue and white porcelain table lamp fashioned from a tall, square-section Chinese fang-form baluster vase, measuring 16" H x 5" W and raised upon a shaped ebony wood riser. The architectural vase form, with squared body, pronounced shoulders, narrowed neck and gently flared mouth, is derived from traditional Chinese vessel shapes and reflects the enduring influence of Ming- and Qing-period blue-and-white porcelain. Each side is densely decorated in cobalt blue against a white ground with formal scrolling vines, stylized flower heads and leafy arabesques, arranged in the manner of traditional Chinese lotus and floral-scroll ornament. Narrow outlined borders emphasize the squared corners, while a repeating geometric fret band encircles the lower body. The decoration is likely a later reproduction of historic Chinese porcelain motifs rather than a period imperial example. The original vase mouth is fitted with a cap supporting the lamp assembly. Mounted upon a carved ebony wood riser and fitted with a standard medium-base three-way socket, harp and finial. Accompanied by a tapered fabric shade measuring 13" H and 15" across the lower edge. Tested and functioning properly.
