Because the design is stitched onto linen rather than worked through an open needlepoint canvas, this is more accurately described as hand embroidery. A label to the reverse indicates the piece was framed in 1981 by THE SNOOP SHOP of Centreville, Mississippi, with possible earlier family or regional heritage connected to Opelika, Alabama.
