AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Weighing a substantial -3- pounds, a Joyce Chen Japanese cast iron tea pot from the Special Edition Tetsubin series, featuring the YEAR OF THE RABBIT design and a 16 ounce capacity. The low rounded body measures approximately 7 inches from the back edge to the end of the spout, 6 inches wide and about 4 inches tall to the lid, excluding the raised handle. The textured cast iron body is decorated with raised running rabbits across the upper surface, with additional rabbit forms surrounding the fitted lid. The tea pot includes a black folding handle, short pouring spout, removable lid with vent hole and the original fitted stainless steel mesh tea strainer basket. The underside is molded JOYCE CHEN and retains the JOYCE CHEN JAPAN label. The interior is coated with porcelain enamel to prevent direct contact between the tea and cast iron. This form was designed for steeping and serving tea rather than heating water directly on a stove. Cast iron construction provides strong heat retention, while the removable basket allows loose tea leaves to be lifted from the pot after brewing. The YEAR OF THE RABBIT design was offered as part of a Joyce Chen Chinese zodiac series that also included other animal motifs. The Japanese manufacture, raised rabbit decoration, original Joyce Chen label and included tea strainer give the tea pot appeal for collectors of Asian tea ware, cast iron tetsubin style pots, Chinese zodiac designs and Joyce Chen kitchen products.
