Wards Western Field Model No. 46-CS

R Serial # NSN. .22 Sh-L-LR bolt action rifle with a 24” barrel. The bore is excellent, clean with strong rifling. Detachable magazine. Made by Mossberg for Montgomery Ward, it is similar to the Model 42A. The blued metal finish on the barrel and the grooved receiver is an older re-blue and is in good condition showing edge wear, thinning and scratches. The hardwood stock has been cleaned and refinished and is in very good to excellent condition showing little wear. Plastic butt plate. The steel floor plate and trigger guard are turning to a brown patina. Sling swivels. Original front and rear sights missing the hood. The peep sight attached to the rear of the receiver is missing. The action works fine. The Mossberg 42 Series was made from 1935-1949. C&R.
