R Serial # 01-007. .300 Win. Mag. caliber bolt action rifle with a 24” barrel. The bore is excellent, clean with strong rifling with some light fouling. The barrel is fitted with a muzzle brake. The rifle was designed by Melvin Forbes to be a super light sporting rifle. The “28” designation references the weight of the action; 28 Oz. The design was bought by Colt in 1999 who contracted to have the rifles made at Saco Defense. Colt took orders for 7000 rifles at the 2000 SHOT show but were unable to deliver. The company was sold back to Forbes in 2000. This rifle is a very early rifle. The 01 designates “Series 1 Long Magnum Action”, the 007 indicates the 7th rifle made in Series 1. The rifle was made c. 1990 before the sale to Colt. Made without sights. Blind magazine. The satin black finish on the barrel is in very good to excellent condition showing little wear with some light scuffs and scratches. The satin black finish on the receiver is in excellent condition showing little wear. The plain black synthetic stock is in very good condition showing light scuffs and scratches with light wear at some of the edges. Sling swivel studs. Black rubber recoil pad. The action works fine. Includes a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8x36 scope.
