Serial # 474997. .45-70 Govt. caliber single shot rifle with a 32-1/2” barrel. The bore is excellent, clean with strong rifling. The breech block is marked “US Model 1884”. The lock marked “U.S. Springfield”. The barrel has the VP and Eagle Head proof marks. Made in early 1890. Buffington style rear sight. The blued metal finish on the barrel is in good condition showing muzzle wear with scratches and scattered light surface rust. The blued metal finish on the lock plate and hammer shows thinning with a covering of light surface rust. The breech block is a thin brownish gray patina with case colors on the underside. The plain walnut stock is in very good condition showing scattered dings and scratches with light finish wear. There is a clean SWP 1889 cartouche on the left side of the wrist. Steel butt plate. The action works fine. Includes a hood installed on the front sight.
