R Serial # 38627. .30 Carbine caliber semi auto rifle with an 18” barrel. The bore is very good, mostly clean with strong rifling. Detachable magazine NOT included. Plainfield Machine was a commercial manufacturer of M1 Carbine clones. This rifle was made c. 1971. The blued metal finish on the barrel is in very good to excellent condition showing little wear with some scattered light scuffs and scratches. The blued metal finish on the receiver is in very good condition showing light edge wear with some light scratches. The finish has taken on a plum hue. The black finish on the op rod shows light edge wear with light scratches. The round bolt shows moderate action wear. The plain hardwood stock is in very good condition showing little wear with some light marks. Perforated steel hand guard showing some light freckling. Adjustable rear sight. The action works fine. Plainfield was in operation from 1962-1977 until acquired by Iver Johnson in 1978. C&R.
