Vintage Carved Mexican Onyx / Calcite Siesta Figurine – Sleeping Man with Sombrero & Jar / Olla, Banded Natural Gemstone Folk Art Description Item: Hand-carved stone multi-figure folk art piece. Subject: Classic Mexican "Siesta" motif depicting a person wearing a wide-brimmed sombrero seated in a hunched position with head down, resting next to a traditional large water jug (olla or tinaja). Both figures are permanently mounted to a matching flat, oval stone base. Material: Translucent greenish-cream and light honey-colored onyx or banded calcite. Features: Exceptional hand craftsmanship highlighting smooth, polished curves on the figure's hat and body. The piece showcases beautiful natural variations in stone clarity, with cloudier white inclusions contrasting against translucent honey-toned bands. Condition: Good vintage/pre-owned condition. Features some minor rough texture and natural raw mineral inclusions near the base of the seated figure and the neck of the jar, which are typical of hand-carved natural stone folk art. Free of modern cracks or repaired breaks. Display: Integrated oval pedestal base provides excellent stability. A quintessential piece for collectors of Southwestern folk art, vintage Mexican stone carvings, or mineral display showcases. See bottom of figure
