This circular flat dress button measures 3/4" in diameter and dates to the early nineteenth century, specifically the 1810 to 1840 era. The prewritten description misidentifies the quality markings as a manufacturer name. The plain convex obverse features a smooth gilt finish, while the stamped reverse displays an intact loop shank flanked by decorative scrollwork. The back markings indicate industry quality ratings rather than a company name, reading "Rich Orange" on the outer ring and "Treble Gilt / Standard Color" on the inner ring to denote the grade and shade of the gold plating. The surface exhibits minor scuffing to the gilt finish along with light age-related face scratches and reverse discoloration.
