This pair of Third Reich-era Winterhilfswerk (Winter Relief) donation badges features identical shield designs shaped like a national eagle. Each badge measures 1 1/2"H x 1 1/4"W and displays a profile of a German soldier in a steel helmet above the inscription "WHW 1939". One piece retains its bright silver finish over its pressed composition base, while its reverse has a round paper backing and a functional wire safety pin. The second badge is unpainted, showing the raw tan composition material, and is missing its reverse paper backing and metal pin assembly. Condition details include light edge wear, staining on the remaining paper backing, and surface dirt.
