This original German Army photo album titled "Meine Dienstzeit" ("My Service") features a textured brown cover with silver title lettering and a metal helmet applique mounted to the front. The album contains an extensive collection of original black-and-white photographs documenting the compiler's military service throughout 1939, from peacetime training through the opening months of the Second World War. Handwritten captions identify locations and dates including Silberhütte (January 1939), Autobahn work details, Seetal (April 1939), and military exercises conducted in Pomerania (Pommern) from 1 May to 1 September 1939. The photographs depict formal portraits, group photographs, field training, winter maneuvers, transport by military vehicles, recreational outings, barracks life, social gatherings, and candid scenes of soldiers both on and off duty. One page includes a portrait of a Heer soldier wearing the national eagle and early-war uniform, while additional images document unit activities immediately preceding Germany's invasion of Poland. The photographs are neatly mounted on black cardstock pages with handwritten captions in white pencil or ink. The album retains its original binding cord, DRGM-marked construction, and remains structurally sound with light handling wear consistent with age. The album contains 167 black-and-white photographs mounted across 23 black cardstock pages. Some photographs in this album may be vintage photographic copies rather than original copies. PM
