Garrison Uniform Frock Coat, Pants and Belt, Company C, 5th Regiment Maryland National Guard. Cadet gray with black collar, cuffs and epaulettes with "C 5" (Company C, 5th Regiment). Nine button front with Maryland National Guard two-piece buttons. Cadet gray pants (with name inside) with black wool stripe on each leg. White cotton web belt with square brass belt plate with the silver "C" (Company C) imposed on the face. The 5th Maryland was organized in 1867 and was composed mostly of ex-Confederate officers and enlisted men. This garrison uniform is much rarer than the often-seen gray triple breasted tailcoats worn for formal occasions and parades. Nice condition.
