Eight hand painted ceramic Winterhilfswerk (WHW) figurine badges dating from the Third Reich period (1933-1945). Each badge features a different German folk or occupational character, modeled in ceramic and finished in polychrome paint. Most figurines are fitted with metal pinbacks, typically mounted with brass or steel wire however, there are two without their hardware. These badges were produced in large numbers and distributed as incentives for charitable donations to the WHW, a Nazi-era welfare program. Visible marks include minor surface oxidation, dark patina on metal fittings, and spot discolorations on several figures. Each piece measures 1.5" - 2" in height. The collection represents a range of regional and occupational costumes popular during the era.
