West German Bundeswehr field side cap, or Schiffchen, constructed from olive-gray wool with a cotton-type interior lining. The front displays an embroidered black, red, and gold national cockade sewn to a diamond-shaped cloth backing. The interior label identifies Bamberger Mützen-Industrie and is marked size 59, IX/1966, indicating September 1966 production, along with military contract and stock numbers. The cap incorporates folded side panels designed to provide additional coverage when lowered.
