Dark blue cloth side cap issued to personnel of the Nationale Volksarmee, or NVA, of the former German Democratic Republic. The cap is constructed from a synthetic-blend fabric with reinforced stitching along the seams. An oval cloth cockade is sewn to the front and features the East German national colors and emblem embroidered in red and gold thread. Interior markings include "NVA," size "55,? and the code "1856 D.? A stitched label reads “MADE IN EAST GERMANY.? The cap exhibits minimal wear and remains structurally intact. This style of headgear was issued to personnel of various NVA branches during the Cold War era, from 1956 until the dissolution of East Germany in 1990. SC
