WWII German Serv Album: Italian Occup. Landscapes

Updated August 7, 2026

This original photo album documents a German soldier's deployment or travel through the Italian Theater during World War II. The 7.5" x 10.5" album features a green textured leatherette cover with a brown spine and decorative gold-dot borders, secured by a classic braided cord. Across 20 pages, the collection contains 67 original silver-gelatin photographs mounted on heavy gray stock. Visual highlights include extensive architectural and landscape studies of Italy, featuring the Roman Forum, coastal embankments, and city squares during a wet summer season. Notably, the album contains rare candid shots of military personnel wearing tropical/summer weight uniforms, consistent with Luftwaffe or Heer deployments in the Mediterranean. The collection provides a high-quality visual record of the cultural and environmental backdrop of the Italian campaign from the perspective of an occupying serviceman. PM
