This mid-1930s photo album documents the regional travel and activities of the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM), the girls' wing of the Hitler Youth. The 9" x 12" album features a tan linen cover with a distinctive multicolored plaid pattern and is bound by its original maroon cord. Across 18 pages, the collection holds 82 photographs, consisting of some original silver-gelatin prints alongside a majority of modern reproductions and photocopies on photo paper. The content is meticulously captioned in German, documenting an Easter 1936 excursion titled Fahrt in die Bayrische Ostmark (Trip to the Bavarian East March). Visual records include group activities in Coburg, architectural studies of Danzig and the Marienburg castle, and candid scenes of BDM girls playing the accordion or participating in regional customs. This album serves as a curated visual history of state-organized youth travel and the ideological exploration of East Prussian territories during the Third Reich. OT
