1933 This softbound photographic volume, titled "Matrosen, Soldaten, Kameraden" (Sailors, Soldiers, Comrades), is a significant 1933 first-edition publication by the Hanseatische Verlagsanstalt Hamburg. The work serves as a high-quality visual record of the Reichsmarine, the naval force of the Weimar Republic and early Third Reich, prior to its reorganization into the Kriegsmarine. It is notably designed and photographed by Max Burchartz, a pioneer of modern typography and photography, using high-end Leica cameras. The content features striking black-and-white imagery of naval maneuvers, artillery, and personnel on heavy-stock paper, accompanied by text in traditional Fraktur script. While the cover shows light soiling and the pages exhibit natural age-toning, the binding is secure and the photographic plates remain crisp and historically significant. The book measures 11" x 9".
