This WWII German Luftschutz VM40 civil defense gas mask set features a green rubber facepiece fitted with circular glass lenses and an adjustable harness. The silver-toned metal filter shows Waffenamt code Wa.A.533 along with stamps 4308 and RL1 38/6. The black-painted metal carrying canister measures 8 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches in diameter and bears raised base stampings identifying maker Aug. Zschiedrich and code RL1-41/20, accompanied by legal compliance text under the Luftschutzgesetz. Complete with its woven cloth shoulder strap and latch mechanism, this set served Luftschutz civil air-defense personnel. Scuffing and light paint loss cover the exterior metal surface, while the facepiece rubber remains intact. GE
