Untitled (Rocky Lakeshore) Oil on board Image Size: 9.5 × 11 in. Frame Size: 13 × 15 in. Signed: Lower right, Fraser Thomson. A tranquil original oil on board by noted Canadian artist Fraser Thomson, depicting a quiet rocky shoreline beneath a bright summer sky. Large granite boulders lead the eye toward calm blue water, while mature trees frame the composition on the left and distant forested hills stretch across the horizon. Executed in Thomson's characteristic painterly style, the work displays confident brushwork, harmonious colour relationships, and a sensitive treatment of natural light. Artist Biography Fraser Thomson (1896–1982) was a Canadian landscape painter best known for his depictions of Ontario lakeshores, forests, and rural scenery. Active throughout much of the twentieth century, he developed a reputation for producing intimate landscapes characterized by balanced compositions, naturalistic colour, and an impressionistic handling of light. Thomson exhibited with regional Ontario art societies and his works have remained popular in the Canadian secondary market, particularly among collectors seeking traditional Canadian landscape painting. Although he was not associated with the Group of Seven, his work reflects the broader Canadian landscape tradition that flourished during the mid-twentieth century.
