(Richard Dinnis) Wilson (Canadian, 1920–1994) Title: St. André-Avellin, P.Q.Date: 1981 Medium: Original Ink Drawing on paper Signature: Signed and dated lower left: R.D. Wilson '81 Sight Size: 6 x 9 in. Frame Size: 14.5 x 16 in. A finely executed original ink drawing by Canadian artist Richard D. Wilson, depicting the picturesque village of St. André-Avellin, Quebec. Wilson's confident pen work and economical use of line create an atmospheric and highly detailed depiction of Quebec's pastoral landscape. Artist Biography: Richard Dinnis Wilson (1920–1994) was a Canadian painter, draftsman, and illustrator born in Montréal, Quebec. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, where he received formal academic training before embarking on a career devoted to painting and drawing. Working primarily in landscapes and architectural subjects, Wilson became known for his expressive ink drawings and paintings that documented the character of rural Quebec and eastern Canada. His work reflects a strong command of perspective, composition, and line, often emphasizing the quiet beauty of country roads, villages, and agricultural landscapes. Wilson's work is documented by the National Gallery of Canada through the Artists in Canada authority database, and his records are held by major Canadian research institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and Library and Archives Canada.
