This German antique dolly-face child doll was imported by George Borgfeldt & Co. between 1900 and 1915. Borgfeldt bisque doll heads were made for them by several German doll makers; Alt, Beck & Gottschalck, Kling & Co, Armand Marseille, Max Schelhornand Simon & Halbig. The doll stands 24 inches tall and features a bisque head marked "G B" with expressive glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, and an open mouth with teeth. The doll's paired red mohair wig and jointed composition and wood body are included, as well as an extensive wardrobe: undergarments, petticoat, floral-print skirt, blouse, socks, black shoes, and a woven straw bonnet. Some surface wear, cracking, and repainting is visible to the body joints, with some soiling appropriate to age, but the head and features remain well preserved. Overall, this piece offers a charming reflection of early 20th-century German dollmaking. **Shipping Notice: Due to the delicate nature of the doll's sleep eye mechanism, any shipped doll will arrive with the wig and skull cap removed, and the eyes secured to help minimize the risk of damage during transit. Please expect this if you require shipping. Because of the additional time and care required to prepare the doll for safe shipment, an additional handling fee may apply. These dolls are exceptionally fragile, and while we take the greatest care in packing and securing every item, shipping always carries an inherent risk. By requesting shipping, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of damage that may occur during transit.
