This is a Kestner 211 character baby doll, known to collectors as "Sammy," produced by J.D. Kestner in Germany circa 1911-1912. The doll measures 16 inches and features a bisque socket head marked "Germany 211 J.D.K." with sleep eyes, open mouth no teeth, and original painted features. It retains its original skin wig as stated by the owner. The doll's composition body shows typical age wear such as minor paint rubs, cracks, and touch-ups, especially on limbs and fingers. Has a period appropriate outfit, undergarment, and crocheted shoes are included. The overall condition is well-preserved for its age, with vibrant facial coloring and operational sleep eyes. **Shipping Notice: Due to the delicate nature of the doll's sleep eye mechanism, any shipped doll will arrive with the wig and skull cap removed, and the eyes secured to help minimize the risk of damage during transit. Please expect this if you require shipping. Because of the additional time and care required to prepare the doll for safe shipment, an additional handling fee may apply. These dolls are exceptionally fragile, and while we take the greatest care in packing and securing every item, shipping always carries an inherent risk. By requesting shipping, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of damage that may occur during transit.
