This collection contains three publisher's cloth-bound books from the early 20th century including G. L. Strachey's Landmarks in French Literature (1912) and Bierman and Frank's Conversational French (1921). The volumes feature extensive period student marginalia, vocabulary notes, and ownership inscriptions from individuals including Edith Wheelock (1926) and Louis Pittenger. The readers include internal maps and illustrations by H. E. Martini.Cloth bindings exhibit significant shelf wear with bumped corners, frayed spine ends, and surface staining. Interior pages show general toning and foxing with heavy handwritten annotations in ink and pencil throughout. Some pages contain minor creasing and edge wear consistent with age and student use.
