This tonal print reproduces Jacob van Ruisdael's celebrated composition, The Mill at Wijk bij Duurstede. The image depicts a monumental Dutch windmill on a riverbank with figures and sailboats beneath a heavy, atmospheric sky. The work is presented in a wide frame with figured wood veneers.Frame size: 23.5 x 28.5 inches.The print shows significant overall toning and a prominent horizontal crease or abrasion running across the center. Visible undulation of the paper is present within the frame. The frame has a small chip to the wood veneer at the bottom right corner, and the backing paper on the reverse is heavily torn and partially detached.
